Moses Trekking Tour Itinerary

Day 1:
When you arrive in Cairo, our representative will help you through luggage identification, passport control formalities & portage will greet you. Transfer from the airport via private A/C car or mini-bus to your hotel for check in and overnight.

Day 2:
We take a guided tour to Giza where we get to visit the legendary majestic Pyramids of Cheops, Mykerionos and Chefren to view these spectacular man-made monuments. Later, you will be taken on a tour to the great Sphinx, which guards the Royal Burial Chambers and temple of Cheops.

NOTE: Before going to the Egyptian museum this is the best time to take a break for lunch (not included in price) or visit to Papyrus Gallery (included in tour price).

In the afternoon visit the Egyptian museum. We finally go to the legendary Khan El Khalili bazaar district to do some shopping.  Return to the hotel and overnight in Cairo.

Day 3:
After breakfast we check out of the hotel and we drive from Cairo to the Sinai region, crossing the Suez Canal. We then drive along the coast past the spring of Ayun Musa. Our next stop will be at Wadi Firan, which is the biggest oasis in Sinai. We then continue on a journey and reach St. Catherine Monastery. Overnight in Camp.

Day 4:
On day four of your tour, we climb Mount Sinai at Jebel Muse (2,285 meters) and then pop in to the Monastery (if open). Please note that nearly half the day is devoted to making all the arrangements.

We trek from Sheikh’s on foot to Abu Giffa Pass. This is a man-made part of the road to the ruins of the Palace of Abbas Basha. We then stop at the top of the pass for a north-eastern view looking out over the El Raha valley, new village of El Millga and see an old tiger trap. We then descend into the Tubug valley until we reach Wadi Shagg. All along the way there are beautiful gardens.

It is strictly forbidden to enter, unless invited. Along Wadi Shagg there are waterholes and pools, giant boulders, and ruins of buildings from the Byzantine period.

We continue to Wadi Ghazna where we make our way at an easy pace west to the crossroad of the Zawatin-Naqb Gibal. Here we will find a group of ancient olives trees. The local tribesmen claim that these trees were planted by the founder of the tribe. This is our first night stop. (Should we have more time, we may go on through Naqb Gibal towards Gibal Valley, where there are copses and wells, and stop there to shorten the next day’s hiked.)

Day 5:
On day 5, we start with a trek ascending Naqb Gibal towards Gibal Valley then go down to the berry tree at the end. When we reach here, we climb a winding footpath called Um Siha to the top to lookout over Wadi Gibal and the rest of our route. Here is where the primeval landscape of Gibal Bab begins - pass through two beautiful valleys, Farsh Asara and Farsh Arnab, climb one of the following mountains: Ras Abu Alda, 2165 meters high, or Gebel Abu Gasba.

The view from these summits is of primeval beauty. Please note that we recommend this hike for hikers who are fit together with an experienced guide. It is from here that we will pass through the only fresh water spring, Ein Nagila. Afterwards, we will begin to descent to our next night camp through Naqb Bahariya to a Farsh El Romana.

Should we have more time, we will visit Bab el Dunya to enjoy the view to the south-west and ruins of a Byzantine monastery before making Camp the second night.

Day 6:
On day 6, with the assistance of a guide and rope, we will descend into a narrow canyon and enter a narrow path where berry trees grow and reach the zenith of our excursion - here we find a group of waterholes and pools called Galt El Azraq, where we relax, refresh and rest. We then follow an ancient foot path, Umm Sila, which will take us to our next night camp called Farsh Um Sila. Should time allow us, we will continue to Farsh Tuweita, a very quaint place to make camp for the third night.

Day 7:
After breakfast, we take an easy route down Wadi Tuweita towards Wadi Tinya which is on the south-eastward in a camel pass to Giebel’ Abbas Basha. Here we will leave our heavy gear & will collect it on our way down the mountain. The climb here is worth taking and is recommended.

The path which has a splendid view at  the top at 2304 meters, is paved and easy to climb. This panoramic is one of the most breathtaking in the High Mountain range. We pcik our gear as we ascend up and continue down on a paved path through Wadis Zuweitin and Tubug towards Abu Giffa Pass. From here continue to our starting point, El Milga village.

Then transfer back to Cairo. Check in to hotel and overnight in Cairo.
