Alexandria over Night Tour in Egypt

Tour Itinerary
Day 1:
After breakfast, your tour guide will pick you up and transfer you to the city of Alexandria, which cuts across 220 Kilometers of the Western desert from Cairo. The trip will take about 3 hours.

Upon arrival, you will be taken to visit the Roman theater at Kom El Dikka, considered to be a place more for public meetings than for performances. The ruins were discovered accidentally about 20yrs ago during a construction project in downtown Alexandria. They are in excellent condition.

Afterwards in the afternoon, you will be taken to visit the Montazah Summer Palace to spend a quiet afternoon near in the gardens near the Mediterranean Sea. Check into your hotel later in the afternoon. Evening is free for leisure. Overnight in hotel.

Day 2:
After breakfast you check out and your guide for the day will transfer you to visit the Fort and Citadel of Qait Bay, which was built around 1480 by the Mamluk sultan Qait Bay. It is believed to rest on the site and to be built from the stones of the Pharos Lighthouse, one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world.

There is a small avel museam nearby which was mostly devoted to Nelson's, defeating of Napoleon's fleet right off the coast of Alexandria on August 1-2, 1798. Afterwards we visit the Bombay's Pillar built in 297 AD for the Roman Emperor Diocletian.

The Pillar is a 9 meters in circumference and its claimed that that 22 people could lunch on the capital, or flat top of the Pillar. Lunch is taken en-route. 

Your tour will end with a visit to the Catacomb of Komel-shokafa. Experts say that these tombs were tunneled into the bedrock in the age of the Antonine emperors (2nd century A.D.) for a wealthy family that is still practicing the ancient religion. These tombs do represent the last existing major construction for the sake of the old Egyptian religion. 

At the ends of the day return to Cairo.
