Kenya Cultural Special Tour Itinerary

Day 1 Bomas of Kenya
Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta Int’l Airport, met by our representative and transfer to a city hotel on bed and breakfast basis (other meals to be paid direct). Depending on arrival time, an optional excursion to Bomas of Kenya is available on request. “BOMA” is a Swahili for homestead, and this is what you will find at this famous venue located a few minutes’ drive from the City Centre. The introduces you to Kenya’s 16 major tribes and the homesteads reflect the diversity of the country’s rich culture. The highlights of the tour is a display of traditional dances and acrobatic shows performed at the venues expansive arena.

Day 2 Nairobi – Mwea
Morning departure for Mwea Tebere rice fields, the traditional rice growing area of Kenya. The people here are extremely hardworking and their industrious nature attracted the early slave traders who captured and transported them to the Far East and reunion. Picnic lunch out in the open fields whilst you enjoy the countryside scenery before proceeding to Kerugoya town, which overlooks Africa highest mountain. Dinner and overnight at Roswam Hotel.

Day 3 Mt. Kenya
Depart after breakfast for Mt. Kenya tea growing farms, which are adjacent to the rain forest in this mountain region. You will be taken on a tour of the local tea factory to give you first hand experience on how this world famous beverage is processed. Dinner and overnight at Roswam Hotel.

Day 4 Nyeri
After breakfast drive through Karatina in Nyeri town to the largest open air market in East Africa. Lunch at Thompson’s Falls Lodge, which overlooks the mighty falls discovered by Joseph Thompson in 1883. afternoon spent visiting the town market area and the environs. Dinner and overnight at the Thompson’s Falls Lodge.

Day 5 Nakuru
Drive through Subukia after breakfast to arrive in Nakuru town late morning. Visit the dormant Menengai Crater, which bubbles up every so often, causing faults that break up the highway nearby. Thereafter proceed to Hotel Kunste for lunch. Visit the lake Nakuru National Park in the afternoon to view the magnificent Pink Flamingoes and other birds on the lake, which also has a protected sanctuary for endangered species. Dinner and overnight at Hotel Kunste.

Day 6 Masai Mara
Depart for the world-famous Masai Game reserve after breakfast. The Masai way of life is deeply rooted in tradition and their age-old pastoral life continues to defy modernization. Their peaceful co-existence with wildlife has contributed immensely to conversation efforts. Lunch and an afternoon drive in search of game will add to the adventure of the safari. Dinner and overnight at a lodge or camp.

Day 7 Masai Mara
Full day in the Mara viewing game with a picnic lunch in the open plains. A visit to the Mara Hippo pools where crocodiles and Hippos bask lazily in the sun. the pools also happen to be the natural ‘corridor’ for the annual migration of the Wildebeest as they cross from Serengeti in Tanzania to Kenyan Mara reserve. Dinner and overnight at a lodge or camp.

Day 8 Nairobi
Early morning game drive and back to the lodge/camp for breakfast. Thereafter depart for Nairobi with an optional stop at the Masai Village which is conducted at an extra cost. Lunch en-route before you drop off at your hotel or JKI Airport.

Our costs include:

  • Accommodation as stipulated in the itinerary
  • Transportation in a chauffeur driven minivan with pop-up roof for easy game viewing & photography
  • Services of an English speaking driver-guide, game viewing drives and parks entrance fees as indicated in the itinerary
  • All Government taxes and levies, free safari hat, free mineral water during game drives only
  • All meet and greet services, all arrival and departure transfers, 24 hours stand-by contact number, all meals as indicated in the itinerary,
  • Guaranteed window seat in the minivan, two-way long range high frequency radio communication in each minivan, on safari accessories in the minivan:
  • First-aid kit, wildlife books, beanbags for easy photography, a pair of binoculars, cool box and fire extinguisher.

Our costs exclude:

  • All items of personal nature e.g. telephone call bills, fax/email bills etc, tips and gratuities to hotel, lodges, camp staff and driver- guide(s),
  • Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, any local or international flight and departure taxes, laundry services
  • Holiday supplement over Christmas and New Year, any other item(s) not included in our itinerary.
